MISSION STATEMENT
MISSION STATEMENT
We love animals, both domestic and wild. Our goal is to better their lives, through education, communication and hard work.
Furry Soulmates, is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, based in Southern California. With nearly 30 years of experience in animal welfare, we are more passionate than ever in what we do! From re-homing unwanted, neglected pets and strays, to rescuing orphaned and injured wildlife. We will never stop helping those who have no means or voice of their own!
The ongoing issue of irresponsible pet-owners, abandoning their pets, has created a considerable rise in the population of feral cat colonies during the last few years. We are combatting this selfish trend thru “TNR” (trap, neuter and release) programs. In addition to keeping the number of strays down, we also provide food, water and medical attention for these poor forgotten souls.
Furry Soulmates, in an effort to educate the public on pet safety and population control, also distributes literature to clinics, pet-groomers, florists and dog parks throughout the Los Angeles area.
The plight of wildlife and shrinking habitats, is another area of importance to this organization. It is our goal to bring awareness, and possible solutions, to the negative effects from urban development. Wildlife should be understood, tolerated and allowed room to thrive. There are many benefits to sharing neighborhoods with our furry (and feathered) friends. Birds and bats eat mosquitos, raccoons and skunks eat termites, opossums eat ticks and carrion, etc... All lives have purpose, and deserve a safe place to co-exist.

PAWS AND PAVEMENT
Please be mindful of where you walk your pets and the environment in which they are exposed. Hot pavement can burn dogs feet in as little as 80 degrees outside. Also, avoid anti-freeze spills! Pets will lick it off of their paws, which can lead to organ failure.
ESCALATORS, ELEVATORS, MOVING SIDEWALKS AND POOCHES
As helpful as these modern conveniences are in getting us up, down and over in large buildings, subways, malls, airports etc. They also pose many hidden dangers to your pets. Dogs toes, claws and loose leashes can get caught in moving escalator steps, as well as the gaps of elevator doors and moving sidewalks. Please carry your pets when using such conveniences or simply take the stairs.
PETS AND PLANTS
Believe it or not! There are many plants that are harmless to humans, but actually quite toxic to dogs and cats.

This is “Casper”. He was rescued in the spring of 2020. We found him on the side of the road, badly injured with lacerations to the side of his face... likely, the victim of a Coyote or dog attack. Despite his rough start, he is now thriving and will be joining his forever home in July!
